SLOPFEST TEAM TOURNAMENT - RULES
RULE CHANGES:
Any rule changes will be announced at the pre-torunament meeting. Interpretation of these rules will be left exclusively to the tournament director, or apointee.
Decisions of the tournament director are final in all matters and are not subject to appeal. The violation of a tournament rule may result in weight loss
(late penalty, dead-fish penalty and short-fish penalty), or disqualification for the day of the tournament. Protests must be made in writing within 15 minutes
of the check-in time of the final flight of each tournament day.
ENTRY AND ELIGIBILITY:
Entry fee is $125.00 per team. (Individuals may fish alone as "a team" but are responsible for full $125.00 entry fee.
No more than 2 anglers per team) Entry forms are to be completed and postmarked July, 10th 2010. Refund of entry fee will
be made only if proper notification to the tournament director is made by Sunday, July 18th. A $10.00 service
charge will be retained on all refunds regardless of date of cancellation. All contestants must have a valid State of Wisconsin
fishing license and must be 18 years of age to be eligible for cash awards. Any change of participants will require a new entry
form to be signed and submitted.
SAFTEY & SPORTSMANSHIP:
Tournament contestants must observe safe boat conduct at all times. Each competitor must wear a USCG approved chest type
life preserver anytime the combustion engine is running. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED DURING THE TOURNAMENT HOURS. All
competitors are expected to follow the highest standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation. All WI fishing
and boating regulations must be followed. If you receive a citation for any violation of Wisconsin Fishing or Boating Regulations
you will be disqualified from the tournament that day.
BOAT & MOTOR:
The horsepower of the motor may not exceed the USCG rating. Each boat must be equipped with an aerated live well large enough
to maintain a live limit of bass. Motor trolling is prohibited.
TACKLE & EQUIPMENT:
Only artificial baits may be used. (Pork strips & rinds are allowed). Only 1 rod and reel may be used at a time, others may be
rigged and ready for use. No live or prepared baits allowed. In the event of equipment failure or emergency, one member of the team may
enter the boat of another team with their fish while the other member stays with the boat in an effort to make it back to the weigh in on time.
It is the responsibility of all anglers involved in this senario to ensure that the fish are properly marked to ensure that the teams' catch Sremain seperated.
Contestants who are not at the check-in area at the appointed time will be penalized 1 pound per minute, deducted from the total weight, including any weight
to be counted toward the Big Bass Award. Any contestant more than 15 minutes late will be disqualified.
TOURNAMENT WATERS:
Tournament waters will consist of all navigable waters, unless designated at the pre-tournament meeting. All contestants must be
off the water by 5pm the FRIDAY prior to the tournament until the start of the take off the following day
SCORING:
Final winners and scoring will be determined by the pound and hundredths total weight of each teams catch during the tournament.
THERE WILL BE A 5 FISH LIMIT PER TEAM. Only largemouth & smallmouth bass that are 14 inches and longer will count towards a team's
final score. All fish will be measured closed mouth, closed tail. Any short fish brought to the scale will result in a disqualification
from the tournament and forfeiture of entry fee. All fish must be caught alive and in a sporting manner. Each team is expected to make
every effort to keep their bass alive and healthy. There will be a 4 ounce penalty for each dead fish, and each dead fish will count towards
the team's 5 fish limit. In the event of a tie the winner will be determined by heaviest fish in the team's limit. It is the responsibility
of the angler to ask that a big fish be independently weighed. If still tied, the "winning teams" will split the 1st and 2nd place prize money equally.
PRE-TOURNAMENT MEETING:
Meeting will be held at the tournament headquarters at 6:30 am the morning of the tournament. All contestants must be registered,
boats must be inspected and in the water prior to the pre-tournament meeting, or you may forfiet your entry.
PROTESTS & RULE INTERPRETATION:
Any protest must be filed with the tournament director prior to the close of the scales.
The interpretation of the rules shall be the responsibility of the SLOPFEST Tournament Director, or apointee. All decisions of the Tournament
Director or apointee present will be final.
TAKE OFF & STARTING POSITION:
Starting position will be determined by order we receive completed entry forms back. Provide
us with your email and/or phone number and we will notify you of your boat take-off number within 5 days of receiving your entry.
BIG BASS POOL:
$20.00 entry per team, which can be paid along with mailed tournament entry fee, or upon registration the morning of the tournament.
100% of entries will be paid back to the largest bass (by weight) caught the day of the tournament.
